![]() As ever there is a murder to solve and Eve does her cop thing well in her usual style but for once the spotlight is on Roarke - a welcome change. Suffice to say - this book fills in many of the gaps the readers have wanted to know. What made the experience of listening to Portrait in Death the most enjoyable? All in all, lot of activity and great story telling narrated by the great Susan Ericksen. Also, in this book, Sommerset is tripped on the stairs by Galahad the cat and breaks his leg - just as he was leaving to go on vacation. ![]() It is a sweet story and it is heartwarming to see Roark find a family when he thought he had no one. He goes to Ireland to meet her family, now his family. His mother was a sweet young Irish woman who loved him dearly. In this book Roark finds out that the horrible person he thought was his mother was not in fact his mother. ![]() Eve was much more subdued in the book and was not as mean and snarky as she usually is in previous books. The killer's identity was a surprise to me. The ending is a heart pounding race to try to save a person that is a beloved character from past books in the series. There are several suspects and Eve works tirelessly to track down clues that will reveal the killer. The photos are sent to a reporter, Nadine Furse, a friend of Eve's. The killer photographs the victims while stalking them, and then photographs them again after they are dead. In this book a person is killing beautiful talented young people and taking their light.
